A fiscal sponsor is a unique type of nonprofit organization that shares its 501(c)(3) status with unincorporated nonprofit projects. This allows projects to receive grants and tax-exempt donations from government, foundations, and individuals. Beyond this basic status, Silicon Valley Umbrella Project provides comprehensive services in support of organizations and projects. We want you to focus on your mission.
Silicon Valley Umbrella Project is part of a national movement and is a member of
the National Network of Fiscal Sponsors.
Any group or individual that is either: (a) seeking nonprofit status and needs to raise funds immediately; (b) managing a community project and needs to raise funds or qualify for corporate or government grants; or (c) seeking to address a community emergency that would benefit from partnership with a nonprofit sponsor.
Administrative costs can be a strain for nonprofits. Managing an office and creating the legal and fiscal infrastructure of a nonprofit can consume 30% to 40% of a nonprofit budget. Choosing fiscal sponsorship allows your project to flourish on the ground while we handle the back office for a low fixed percent. Silicon Valley Umbrella Project maintains the accounting and creates your fundraising interface online.
The process is designed to help your project as soon as possible. After making contact and providing a basic description of your project or organization, Silicon Valley Umbrella Project can provide Fiscal Sponsorship in a matter of days.
The most important thing for you is to focus on the work that you and your group have set out do. Silicon Valley Umbrella Project provides guidance that comes from extensive experience, as well as leadership to help your group establish itself. Your
project/organization will have a fundraising page that will make it easy for your supporters to give online. You will also be introduced to other nonprofit groups and leaders to help your growth and success.
